The stuffing recipe I’m sharing with you is part of a campaign I’m working on with Mrs. Cubbison’s Stuffing Mix. The company has conducted a nationwide survey called “Thanksgiving Across America”, and in the survey it was found that one of the most popular side dishes to be included at the Thanksgiving feast was stuffing. Check out the results of their survey for interesting facts and trends surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday.
The folks over at Mrs. Cubbison’s have a fabulous website dedicated to Thanksgiving Tips and Recipes, be sure to check it out!

Ingredients
- 1/2lb bacon (chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)
- 2 medium celery ribs (finely chopped)
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 1 large GrannySmith Apple (peeled, cored, and cut into ½ inch cubes)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (minced, or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage leaves (minced, or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh marjoram leaves (minced, or ½ teaspoon dried)
- 12oz Box Mrs. Cubbison’s Classic Seasoned Dressing
- 2 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
- 1 egg (slightly beaten)
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)
Directions
Step 1 | Adjust oven rack to the center position and heat the oven to 350˚F. |
Step 2 | Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp and brown, about 10-12 minutes. |
Step 3 | Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. |
Step 4 | Add the celery, onion, and apple to the same skillet the bacon was cooking in (don’t drain off the bacon grease) and sauté, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 8-10 minutes. |
Step 5 | Add the parsley, thyme, sage, and marjoram and stir. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl. |
Step 6 | Add the breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, chicken broth and bacon to the vegetable and apple mixture. |
Step 7 | Place the stuffing mixture into a buttered 9x13 pan, or any other 3 quart pan. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165˚F. |
Step 8 | Cool for 5 minutes, then serve. |
